Can you hear the trough the headset?

So... sometimes I'm playing my 360 at night, I don't want to wake up anyone so i turn off the sound, but I find it really hard to get in to a game if I cant hear it's music, voices or it's sound effects.Is there a way for you to hear the game's sounds trough the 360's headset?Can you hear the trough the headset?

You'll need something like these. Those are the cheapest headsets that allow game audio as well as voice chat that I know of. There are a wide variety of different ones up from that that feature 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound as well as wireless.
