Mass Effect combat help

I just started to play this game and i can't find out how to fight using the more turn based way, i can only play in a 3rd person way, and i dont do very well...i press the rb and i can select push and stuff but shooting is only GOW style...is there any way to change it to just turn based selection?thanksMass Effect combat help

Thats what its on about, there is no actual turn based gameplay mode
Mass Effect is not turnbased
RPG =/= turn based gameplay.
Pause it every 5 seconds?
