I want to start playing RPGs, but I don't know where I should begin. I've played things like fable 3, oblivion and fallout 3. I'm currently trying out others like Infinite Undiscovery, which I borrowed from a friend. I was wondering if Dragon Age is good for a beginner RPG player, or if I should play something else first?New comer to RPG genre
Eternal Sonata was a really easy game.New comer to RPG genre
Dragon Age isn't exactly a beginner RPG. It's pretty deep and involving. It's also nothing like any of the games that you mentioned. I'd suggest Eternal Sonata if you're liking Infinite Undiscovery, and Mass Effect if you want to get into WRPGs(like Dragon Age)
Eternal Sonata does seem like a good start, I'll download the demo. Buddy of mine also owns Mass Effect so I'll check that out as well, thanks
Try a few JRPGs as opposed to Dragon Age.My personal favorites on the 360 are Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia---LO for it's moving story and FANTASTIC soundtrack. (Nobuo Uematsu is the greatest composer ever!)Tales for amazing action, characters, and gameplay!
mass effects maybe or tales of vesperia
Eternal Sonata is an awesome game. Also if you have a PS2 there are MANY awesome RPGs to be played on that.

diablo 1/2, always good to start with the best :P

Those certainly are the some of the best. I have never played a game as much as I played D2.
i would for sure start with diablo. pauly95212 @ twitter.com
hmm, id recommend mass effect. its def. an rpg but not incredibly intense, if youre worried about that. stay away from jrpgs, if you are worried, as those tend to be more intensive than western rpgs, as most of those you named. id also recommend, if you have a gba or ds, there are a lot of really good rpgs (more style of jrpg but not all as intense). i love them, theyre great, and you can take them with you, which is great, seeing how many hours you'll likely put into an rpg.
Eternal Sonata and Tales of Vesperia are excellent RPGs to start with. Both are a lot of fun and fairly simple in terms of gameplay. Eternal Sonata is a good choice though because it's not very long, pretty linear, and the battle system is easy to learn. It's a good starter for sure. Tales of Vesperia is the better game, but I think Eternal Sonata is the better starter.
I'd reccommend Mass Effect, as it's easily one of the best RPGs out there and cheap as well.I would borrow/rent a jRPG before buying one as a lot of people do not like the style. I think Lost Oddysey is a nice example of a good jRPG. I didn't like the gameplay, but I do recognize it as a good game.
